PARSONS-HUNTER

It was very much a case of following family tradition when Sarah, daughter of Ian and Diane Hunter of Gisborne, married Mike, son of Trish and Brian Parsons of Sydney, at the Holy Trinity Church on October 23, 2009. Both Sarah's parents and grandparents, on her father's side, were also married at the church. The Australian based couple loved everything about their day, particularly using the city's historic Tiger Moth plane as a backdrop for some of their wedding photographs. Mike is a commercial pilot and having the plane in the photographs just added something special to the day. Sarah felt many of their friends and family who travelled to Gisborne for their wedding were making the trip for the first time and were completely blown away by the wonderful hospitality of the locals and excellent quality of food and wine. Gisborne had well and truly surpassed many of their expectations. The couple were attended by best man Nigel Parsons, Scott Hanna, Christian Wehrle, maid of honour Katie Hunter, Caroline Kemp and Anna Kelso. Photography by Diana Dobson/The Black Balloon

REX & SALLY BRIANT

After 15 years Rex and Sally Briant finally decided to tie the knot. Sally, the daughter of Warwick and Bev Willson, and Rex, the son of Lenore and the late Don, were attended by their children Ben, Angus and Laura, as well as Steve and Lynise Craill, at an intimate service and celebration at Knapdale Ecolodge.

Tee - Etheredge

TEE-ETHEREDGE

Simon, son of Peter and Shona Etheredge from Te Anau, and Nicola (formerly Tee), daughter of Ann Milton-Tee from Gisborne, got married at Holy Trinity Church followed by a reception at The Wharf. Nicola grew up at Wainui Beach so it was special to have wedding shots taken at the beach and to get married in Nicola's home town.
Following their 10 day flying visit back to Gisborne for the wedding they are both back in London working, Simon as a semi-professional rugby player and events contractor and Nicola as an stock exchange analyst with Bloomberg. However they intend to settle back in NZ before too long. Photography by Diana Dobson, The Black Balloon.

Clarke - Spriggs

CLARKE - SPRIGGS

Fun, family and friends were the order of the day at the wedding of Rachael Clarke and Dave Spriggs. Rachael who is an architect with Nicoll Blackburne Architects, and the daughter of John and Barbara, wore her mother's veil and garter, while Dave, a fitter turner with AP machinery, and the son of Colin and Jan (Tauranga), had on him a pocket watch he and Rachael had bought in Greenwich on a trip to London last year. The couple, who met in the Territorials, hope the watch will become a family heirloom. They are pictured with their wedding party (from left) Tarlei Turner, Chris Forbes, flower girl Aaliah Hokianga, sister of the bride Sarah Clarke and Dan Field. Coleman - Morgan

COLEMAN - MORGAN

All the guests at the Valentine's Day wedding of Eugene Morgan and Natalie Coleman were included with a special ceremony, which saw both rings handed to each of the 55 guests for them to bestow their good wishes on the Wellington-based couple. Eugene, whose father Ken Morgan lives at Tolaga Bay and other family in Gisborne, and Natalie were married in Gill Armstrong's beautiful Wainui garden by celebrant Norman Maclean. Their day started with some special time with their 18-month-old twin boys – Ryder Jade and Jett Mako. Guests were entertained with Eugene's story of how the couple met – Natalie had been his banking advisor. The family-orientated couple have their own granite and marble installation business and are hoping to open a branch in Gisborne in the future. Photography by Diana Dobson, The Black Balloon

Averill - Sherriff

AVERILL-SHERRIFF

The weather may not have been perfect for the wedding of Lisa Averill and Ben Sherriff, but everything else was. Lisa, daughter of Zona and Charles Averill and Ben, son of Jude and Pete Sherriff (formerly of Gisborne but now of Taupo) say they would not have changed a thing from their wedding day. Lisa wore a beautiful jade necklace and bracelet, given to her by her mother, and received from Ben a jade wedding ring she had designed. The couple were married by Ben's uncle, celebrant Patrick Willock, on the beach at Wainui surrounded by family and their best friends. They live in Taupo, where Lisa is accommodation manager at the luxury boutique Terraces Hotel, while Ben is a greenkeeper at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Course at Kinloch. The couple are pictured with their wedding party (from left) Jo Ferkins, Jane Wyllie, Hels Stoddard, Dis Roberts, Phil Haare, Andy Allan, Mark Rouse and Johnny Rouse.
