Mission - Tairawhiti Museum is a gateway/waharoa and resource for the art, culture and heritage of our communities.

Tairawhiti Museum and Art Gallery features an excellent programme of New Zealand contemporary art exhibitions and Watersheds Nga Waipuna a major new regional history exhibition including more than 280 Maori, colonial and more recent historical treasures, contemporary art works and audio-visuals.

Also visit Wyliie Cottage, Gisborne's oldest wooden building, and the 'Star of Canada' maritime history museum exhibition.
