Rehette Stoltz for Gisborne District Council

Welcome to my webpage...

FIRST: A BIG Thank You to the 5,559 voters who have given me the privilege to be part of the Gisborne District Council for this coming 3 year term...

I value the opportunity and will endeavour to the best of my ability to meet the expectations of your trust as a decision-maker for our great city and district...

1) a voice for the FAMILY

I am part of one of the obvious groups of people that are not represented on the Council  - the 20 to 45-year-old age group who, like me, are busy paying off their mortgages and raising their children. We are the only group of people without an organisation or advocacy group working specifically on our behalf.  There are no advocacy groups out there to highlight the needs of the everyday struggling family. We are the actual lifeblood of Gisborne and I want to be our voice on the Council.

2) a sound BUSINESS mind

I know that the Council needs business-minded people, like myself, to make the best possible financial decisions to ensure that our hard-earned money are conservatively spent and that our rate payments are kept as low as possible.

3) a friend for the ELDERLY

I have always had a soft spot for our older citizens and it is important for me to work towards a better quality of life for those valued members of our society. I am a volunteer driver and assistant for the Sunshine Service and seeing the big impact we make on the people that use the service, it makes me realise even more that we as a society need to take more responsibility to assure a better quality of life for our senior citizens.

Why am I standing for Council?

1)   I am part of one of the obvious groups of people that are not represented on the Council  -  the 20 to 45-year-old age group who, like me, are busy paying off their mortgages and raising their children. We are the only group of people without an organisation or advocacy group working specifically on our behalf.  There are no advocacy groups out there to highlight the needs of the everyday struggling family. We are the actual lifeblood of Gisborne and I want to be our voice on the Council.
"I know that the Council needs business-minded people, like myself, to make the best possible financial decisions to ensure that our hard-earned money is conservatively spent and that our rate payments are kept as low as possible."
2)   We need more women around the Council table – we bring a unique set of qualities to the Council, and as women make up more than 51% of the local population, it is essential for us to make ourselves heard.
3)   I have always had a soft spot for our older citizens – it is important for me to work towards a better quality of life for those valued members of our society.
4)   I am a great team player – I know that I would be a valuable voice in the team of councillors who will strive to make the best decisions to ensure that Gisborne is an even more fantastic place to live and to raise our children.

Rehette Stoltz: A Fresh face for Council!

Rehette Stoltz for Gisborne District Council, standing for the Gisborne Ward.

Who am I?

Gisborne has been our home since 2001. My wonderful, supportive husband, Deon and I are blessed with two lovely young sons, Alexander (5) and Luk Henri (3) who were born here.

I have a passion for Gisborne and its people… the long sunny days, the golden beaches, the laidback Gisborne way of life… priceless! Gisborne has so much to offer – let’s make the most of it!

Deon and I are both actively involved in the sporting scene (Harriers and Gisborne Cycling Club) and I am proud to say that I have just completed my first marathon!
After school, I initially focussed on a career in academics and completed my Masters degree in Science (M.Sc) focussing on Cardiovascular Physiology. My priorities changed when we started with a family, and since 2008, I balance my home and professional career by running a successful part-time business sourcing dentists, doctors and physiotherapists from the UK, USA and South Africa and placing them in hard-to-staff positions throughout New Zealand.

Keeping healthy...

Rehette Stoltz: President, Gisborne Montessori Pre School
I have been the President of the Montessori Council since 2008, and enjoy being part of the governance of such a dynamic school.
It has been such a heartening experience being a volunteer driver and assistant at the Sunshine Service and seeing the big impact we make on the people that use the service, it makes me realise even more that we as a society need to take more responsibility to assure a better quality of life for our older and less fortunate citizens.

Why Vote for me?

If you want to see a vibrant, passionate person with a can-do attitude be part of the decision-makers for our great town, make sure you make a big tick next to Rehette Stoltz!
